R.I.P.D. Movie Quotes
"R.I.P.D." movie quotes bring the comic book "Rest In Peace Department" by Peter M. Lenkov to the big screen in an action-comedy film. Directed by Robert Schwentke, the film was adapted into a screenplay by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. The supernatural movie released by Universal Pictures hit theaters on July 19, 2013.

In "R.I.P.D.," Detective Nick Cruz Walker (Ryan Reynolds) is a star officer who is killed suddenly in the line of duty when he's shot by a perpetrator. He wakes up to find himself in what appears to be an office where he's being recruited for a new job. Nick meets Proctor (Mary-Louise Parker) who explains that he's needed in the R.I.P.D. or Rest in Peace Division, a division of the undead police force.

Nick soon also meets his new partner, Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges), who explains the job to him. They are tasked with protecting the living by taking down those evil souls who for one reason or another refuse to move into the afterlife. Since they can't do that in their normal forms, they now have new appearances, Roy as a blonde bombshell and Nick as an old Asian man. While Nick eventually gets into his new position, he finds himself struggling between saving the world and getting revenge against the criminal who killed him.

Suspect You Might Be Dead
Roy Pulsipher: [To Nick] "You ready?" [to Nawlicki] "Stanley Nawlicki, we're with the Department of Health. We suspect that you might be dead…" [To Nick] "You can bag this one, my treat."
Nick Cruz Walker: "No, I'm not, I'm not going near that."

When Roy and Nick approach a sour soul that refuses to leave, Roy gives the task of bagging this fellow to the rookie Nick. Nick however declines the invitation to take down the nasty looking Nawlicki.
Meet Your New Partner
Proctor: "Your job is catching Dead-Os, the bad fellows that escaped judgement. Meet your new partner."
Nick Cruz Walker: [Extends a handshake to Roy Pulsipher but is denied]
Roy Pulsipher: "Nope, you gotta earn that. Come on, rookie!"

Nick Cruz Walker is introduced to his new job and new partner, an older gentleman in a cowboy hat. He tries to make nice and offers his hand for a shake but is soon put in his place.
You're Dead
Proctor: "Tough day"
Nick Cruz Walker: "Where am I?"
Proctor: "Officer Walker, I have some bad news for you. You're dead."
Nick Cruz Walker: "This is a joke."
Proctor: "Hilarious" [laughs sarcastically] "You have skills that we want. We'd like you to join the R.I.P.D."
Nick Cruz Walker: "The R.I.P.D.?"
Proctor: "Rest in Peace Department… I think you're smellin' what I'm sellin'."

After Detective Nick Cruz Walker is killed in the line of duty, he is surprised as to the next place he lands, in an office for what appears to be a job assignment. In fact that's exactly what's happening as he's been recruited to join the R.I.P.D., the Rest in Peace Department.
Bag It, Tag It and Bury It Deep
Roy Pulsipher: "We are the greatest law men that ever lived and died. Now, some souls hide out among the living. Here's the deal. Our job is catching bad souls that escaped the afterlife. Bag it, tag it and bury it deep."

Roy explains the job to his new rookie partner Nick. They have the unique task of going after those evil souls who feel they have unfinished business and refuse to leave. Roy and Nick give those souls a slight nudge to beat it.
An Old Chinese Guy?
Roy Pulsipher: "There's something else. You don't look like you or sound like you anymore."
Nick Cruz Walker: "So what do I look like?"
Roy Pulsipher: [Shows Nick his employee badge]
Nick Cruz Walker: "Really? An old Chinese guy? What about you?"
Roy Pulsipher: [Morphs into his avatar, a blonde female model]
Nick Cruz Walker: "Well I guess you win, Roy."

Roy explains one more facet of their new life in the afterlife, that their appearance has changed. They couldn't possibly look like their old selves, they would be creepy, so they have new appearances. Roy, who is the supermodel, clearly has the upper hand there.
Don't Tense Up
Roy Pulsipher: "Fun, right?"
Nick Cruz Walker: "Don't tense up!" [Throws Roy in front of a moving bus]

In a twist from when Nick first learned of his invincibility as a member of the dead, Nick throws Roy in front of a bus and uses the same line as when Roy tossed the both of them out of a high rise building, "don't tense up."
This World's for the Living
Proctor: "If the dead take over, that's it for the living world."
Roy Pulsipher: "They picked the wrong venue to make a stand. This world's for the living and R.I.P.D. is going to keep it that way."

Proctor and Roy explain the situation they are in at the moment. The dead are trying to dominate the living and they must make sure that does not happen at any cost.
We're Pretty Durable
Roy Pulsipher: "Don't tense up!" [Pushes himself and Nick out a high rise building window]
Nick Cruz Walker: "Whoa, whoa, whoa"
Roy Pulsipher: "You might notice we're pretty durable."
Nick Cruz Walker: "It still hurts."

In another learning opportunity, Roy shows Nick that since they are technically dead, they are pretty invincible and can survive a long fall from a skyscraper. It still hurts, but at least they cannot die… again.
What Eyes to Shoot You Between
Roy Pulsipher: "Damn. I don't know what eyes to shoot you between."

When Roy and Nick encounter a bad soul who has a multitude of eyes all across his face, Roy wonders aloud the best place in which to shoot this fellow is.
